I hope you enjoy the premiere issue and encourage you to participate in this blog by sharing your comments. In return for your time, my desire is that what you learn will energize you to achieve your personal definition of success!

SFW Tip 1: Make time for you.

If you’re anything like me, you’re busy! Between our families, careers, churches and civic groups, we’ve got a lot on our plates. But take another look at your to-do list. Where do you and your personal goals fit in?

In the first issue of SUCCESS for Women, we interviewed women who are at the top of their games. In the articles on this site and in the magazine, you’ll learn some of their top tips for creating a successful career and lifestyle. One piece of advice almost every woman shared was the importance of making time for, and taking care of, herself.

The whole point of personal-development material is that you read and re-read, listen and re-listen, and sooner or later the wisdom begins to take hold, and you begin not just to hear—but to act. That’s what happened for me. In the midst of working long hours, attending junior-high football games and meet-the-teacher night at preschool, it became clear that my lack of personal care was going to do me in—physically, mentally and emotionally. So I listened to—and began following—the advice of the women featured in SUCCESS for Women.

That meant making time for exercise, turning off my BlackBerry from time to time and joining a group that’s helping me be accountable about achieving a personal goal. Does doing those things make me less busy? No. But the exercise is starting to make me feel more energetic and helps me sleep better. Turning off my phone allows me to focus my attention on my family. The critique group is helping me finish a project I’ve been “working on” for more than a year. And, strangely enough, even though I’m as busy as ever, I feel less stressed.

What about you? Where are you and your goals on your list of priorities? Is your life what you want it to be?

Our goal at SUCCESS for Women is to help our readers create whole-life success: personal, family, career and financial. And while we can’t find anyone who believes true balance is achievable, we believe it is possible to live with purpose and passion in every area of life. In this issue, you’ll find insights into how to do that from:

  • Denise Austin and Dr. Mehmet C. Oz that will help you live healthier, happier and less-stressed;
  • Valorie Burton and Maria Shriver about living authentically by keeping your focus on your priorities;
  • From entrepreneurs who are building thriving businesses, and everyday women who are reinventing their careers and reshaping their lives.

I hope what you read in SUCCESS for Women will inspire you to consider what you want out of life and to make positive steps toward achieving your goals. And before you click on to another page, I’d love to hear your thoughts about what success means to you.

Here’s to your success!

    Am looking forward to read articles from All the Women in this world that are and will, one day, be successful in their endeavor, passion, and desire to have their own business.

    As a subscriber of Success Magazine, I have read numerous articles written by and about the many successful business men and women.

    Thank you.

    Has the magazine started taking subscriptions yet or do we have to purchase it at Barnes & Noble, etc.? Last time I check B&N, they still had the first issue on the shelf.

    Thanks.
