Taking time off from the daily grind to focus on personal development sets the stage for success!

What a weekend! SUCCESS Symposium brought together more than 2,000 entrepreneurs, business leaders and success-minded people for a powerful day of inspiration. Even though I’m entrenched in the personal-development industry, it’s empowering to be challenged to think even bigger. In this week’s blog, I’m sharing a few comments from the many pages of notes I collected this weekend. I hope something here challenges you to step out of your comfort zone today.

From Darren Hardy, publisher of SUCCESS magazine:

  • The key to success is massive failure. The more willing you are to try and fail, the more you increase your opportunities for (greater) success. Get out of your comfort zone!
  • The negative will seek you out. You have to seek out the positive. Protect and feed your mind with positive, empowering messages.

From Connie Podesta, counselor, communicator and comedian:

  • Figure out what you can do really well. Know your weaknesses, and stick to your strengths.
  • Learn to love texting. If you refuse to text, you’re refusing to communicate with those 30 and younger.
  • Women should never ask their men, “Does this make me look fat?” “You have a scale—use it! If the number is high, the butt is big.”

From John C. Maxwell, motivational teacher and best-selling author:

  • The more valid reasons you have to achieve your dream, the better your odds are for success. You may have a very good dream, but if you don’t know your “why,” it will be difficult to stay on track.
  • Before you go high, you have to start solid. An unrealistic dream is based on unrealistic expectations. Disappointment is the gap between reality and expectations.

From Stedman Graham, educator and business leader:

  • When we do the same thing day after day, the monotony makes us forget and inhibits our learning. This happens with children at school as well as adults at work. Shake things up by thinking for yourself.
  • To be the best you can be, you have to be free. You can’t be free until you know how to think, which requires first knowing who you are.

From Mel Robbins, life and business coach:

  • Before you can see the big picture for yourself, you have to “get out of the weeds.” Make some personal time/space so you can dream big!
  • The first step is knowing what you want; the second step is admitting what you want. If it’s embarrassingly big, you’re on the right track!

We also heard from Primerica CEO John Addison; motivational speakers and authors Jim Rohn and Chris Widener; and business leader John Fleming. Each offered a powerful message—but I’ll share those in another blog.

If you attended this (or a previous) SUCCESS Symposium, I’d love to hear what you got out of the event. What message most resonated with you, and what are you doing with what you learned?

The Success Symposium is a life changing event!

For things to change, you must change. The spectacular presenters at this event
fuel you with the positive. You will walk away knowing what you’ve always known deep down ~ the belief that you truly have unlimited potential.

When you accept this truth and live factually instead of reactively, you can make absolutely anything happen!

Looking forward to the next one!
