Shattering stereotypes and raising the bar, these women are shaping America’s future.

The May 2009 issue of our sister publication, SUCCESS magazine, recognizes women who are shaping not only their communities but the world by putting their passions and strengths to use. Their varied stories and backgrounds relay the message that regardless of where a person begins, she can finish strong and successful.

Through their work, Maya Angelou, Melinda Gates, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Indra Nooyi and Maria Shriver have changed the lives of countless people around the world. They have challenged the way men and women think about business, education, politics and life. Today, they continue to inspire us all to reach our fullest potential.

I am really inspired and impressed by these women. When I think of my own accomplishments, they pale in comparison. They are very strong and talented women and I am glad they are being recognized for their achievements.
